A Glimpse in History

We were each others.
For a glimpse in history.
Time took you away,
But good parts of you,
Live within me.

It feels so far.
The time we tailgated in Bishop,
Under the stars.
I'll never forget,
Who you really are.
Or how you were there,
When I really needed it.

Sometimes I do miss,
Peaceful unspoken silence.
We really had it.
Loving each other,
Without any conflict.
For a glimpse in history,
Real love we got blessed with.

You brought life back to chivalry.
Romancing me,
In Little Italy.
With a just because,
Weekend getaway.
For a glimpse in history,
With you was my first time ever
Going to Pacific Beach.
Morgan Wallen.
And laughing together in a
Hard Rock Hotel suite.
You're the only man,
Who made this skeptic woman wanna believe.

So, I did.
For a glimpse in history,
I felt like a kid again.
Excited,
And fearlessly vigorous.
Unable to predict,
The unavoidable risk.
I never believed the journey of your love,
Would actually cause fatal turbulence.

It's easy to remember,
The bad taste reality left.
But the sweetness adheres,
Inside of my chest.
For that glimpse in history
Is now all I have left.

I'll elect to remember
Instead of forget.
I'll never inherit callous bitterness.
I'll cry a million tears,
To cleanse out all the virulence.
Even if loving you,
Left me with scars and regrets.
For a glimpse in history,
You were worth all of it.
