Tennessee

While I sit
Watching fireflies glow,
I can't help but question
things that I don't know,
Like how I thought he was the one.
hell, so did everyone.

His backwards hat
said it all,
What was I thinking
when I answered his call.
I should've turned away and ran so fast
Because now
I don't think,
my heart I'll ever get back.

Why do his eyes look like a river?
Hell, I should've known
he was a sinner.
How he captured my heart with his southern charm,
I should've thought twice
Before I let him take me back to his farm.

I wanted to feel free,
Hoping he'd also miss me.
So I jumped on a flight,
Ended up having
the best time of my life.

I found my heart in Tennessee.
Doing some soul searching,
Self therapy.
When I got off that jet.
There was someone there
I never thought I would have met.

I was super shocked when he told me his name.
You wouldn't believe me
if it was saved in a frame.
He was so handsome
Standing in his boots so tall.
Said hello darling,
My names Tim McGraw.

We sipped a beer,
people watched,
Sat at the airport bar and talked.
Asked me why
I looked so sad,
I told him my heart
been broken pretty bad.

He said
I was to pretty to cry.
That any man is crazy,
to tell me goodbye.
Saying to take this time,
To have just fun
 and enjoy my life.
And what better place I am to be.
Than right here in the heart,
Of Tennessee.

He said your heart is a precious thing,
So no matter what
understand that sometimes it brings,
Tears, hurt, anger and pain,
But you'll get through it
and be happy again.

I shook his hand,
Saying goodbyes,
He smiled and said
Don't worry, have the best time.
And anytime you're back here in Tennessee,
You can always call me
and your friend I'll be.

They say things are sweeter in Tennessee,
So part of my heart stays there,
 Right here inside of me.
I know that I'll be back there again,
Cherishing the moment with my good old friend Tim.
