Is There Actually A Reason For Our Relations?
Do you believe that every person that you cross paths with actually does have a meaning in your life?
Because I sure do. In the same exact way that I truly believe that we have a purpose in this life. Not always do we know why, but there has to be a reason to everything, and it had me questioning the reasons why people come in and out of our lives.
I totally believe that something as simple as a smile from the person behind you at the grocery store can have an affect on your life okay maybe our day but still, all of our days add up to a life anyway right? So yes, a simple smile in that moment you're in line, and your kids are freaking out, and you feel like the person in front of you has an unlimited use of coupons and they are digging in their purse because they can't find their debit card, or anything for that matter, so you are trying to stay calm, and look behind you feeling bad for that person because you yourself have a cart full of kid food and items you threw in the cart because of course you forgot your list, but that person gives you a nice kind warm smile, and it totally calms you down, making you feel relieved?
You can't say that doesn't matter. it does!
Sometimes people come into our life, and its hard not to wonder why. Why they make you feel a certain way, or why they make you smile, laugh or even mad. I don't know if we ever truly know why different people come across our paths, but sometimes something happens, and then a thought comes into your mind like, Yes! That is why they are in my life, even if its just for a split second. Have you ever felt that before? Like a weird phenomenal thought telling you this is why he/or she is there! crazy right? Not Hardly!
Every single being in your life, whether its just a friendship, bond, connection or even an acquaintance, they are people we have relations with in our daily lives, they're our friends, coworkers, teachers, peers, the mail man, I mean the list goes on and on, and these people in some way have a meaning in our life. Right? Because they are somehow a part of it, but why are these people here now? Why do some stay long, and others don't? Yes its all a part of life and i'm sure if we actually focused on the meaning, would it look us directly in the face? I wouldn't rule that out.
Think about it, have you ever had that coworker that you didn't really ever get along with because they were bossy, or sorta rude so you ignored them because you thought they were plain out mean? Well have you ever taken the time to actually sit and talk to them? If you have, you probably found out that they have had more trials in their week than you've had in your entire life, and once you actually get to know them, they aren't so bad after all, actually they are pretty amazing. Then one day they are there for you when you have a terrible day because they know exactly what your going through, and you become great friends. WOW. Mind blown right? You know exactly why they are in your life now.
So you go out with girlfriends to have drinks for happy hour even though you really didn't feel like drinking on a Wednesday night, but you go anyways and sit at the bar and make small talk with the bar tender. So you're all sitting there trying to figure out what to order because the drink menu has so many options for us indecisive women and the beautiful bar tender recommends this sweet foo foo drink so of course you all order it. A few drinks later, you and the pretty bar tender start conversating and totally connect, talking about life and your kids, and there it is again, another person trying to set you up, as she tells you about her husbands friend and then all of a sudden he comes in, and she introduces you two, but you completely hit it off. Now that was strange, but you and her are now friends, and if you didn't go into the bar you wouldn't have a new friend, or be talking to a very attractive, sweet guy, that doesn't make you question anything, because for once its refreshing to talk to someone you don't have strong feelings for after all. Crazy right? You can't rule out fate just because you and him didn't work out, because that moment in time there was a total reason why it happened and only you know why it did.
OK i'm going to take this one further.
So you're dating a guy, and you start wondering why you try so hard, maybe sometimes doubting why you're giving so much energy and effort because it sure as hell isn't 50/50 here. So you play it cool because you don't want to be THAT girl that is needy, or questioning him because you already knew going into it that he was totally assiduous and knew that he has an obligation to be putting in massive amounts of time and energy into his career, and that he does give you what he has left, if there is any of him by the end of the day, but your mind eats away at you and starts questioning him, is he really working, or is he seeing someone else? That's when the doubt is in full force and you completely freak out on him, testing you're entire relationship only to find out that he was in the hospital because he was involved in a car accident and couldn't call you, then you feel like a total jerk! So you send him sympathy showing him the girl that cares and loves him, finally the one that lights up his entire day with positive words, making him feel better, because deep down he knows that he can truly count on you to be there to give him a reason to smile, and you think to yourself WOW, this is why he is in your life! He needs you to be the one to cheer him up, to encourage him, because you may be the only person in his life that brings him true happiness.
Mind blown right?
I'm sure that we can all think about a time that we realized the reason why we are in someones life, and vice versa. Its so crazy when you actually think about it. Right?
You never truly know for sure how you affect someone else, and someone else may not know exactly how they can truly affect you, and sometimes you can doubt everything that comes across your direction but life without meaning is tragic. So I will always believe that every person that I cross paths with in my life does have a reason and a purpose, just like my life, and some reasons we may already know, some we do not, and if we always try to remember that, something inside will make us realize that every single person is a human being, and every single human being matters, and every person we come across has a relation and a true reason in our life.
One quote that stands out to me is a quote by Jon Kabat-Zinn, "As long as you are breathing, there is more right with you than wrong with you." Remember that there is a purpose, and we don't always know or see it, but if you have an ounce of hope to believe that, you will find a reason to smile, possibly making someones day with it :)
