Where You Remain

Parallel lines.
Drift like spring haze
Across my mind.

The almosts,

The what-dids

And what-didn’ts

Stroll through,

Like I wish you could

Visit.

Cause it’s to hard

To tell my heart,

That in this physical world

You’re no longer in it.

But your spirit is here

I can feel it.

I’m trying to go on,

But it’s hard

Remembering

Your soft soul,

Because that

Feels familiar.

Not the hell

That zipped us through

The fast lane.

Just the soft moments

Of all the true love,

That we made.

I know that you loved me.

I know that you’re sorry.

I forgive every ounce

Of that god-awful fury.

After it all,

Love reigns.

Our bodies become

Dirt and ashes

But real love outlives

All our remains.

I’ll carry it in me.

Wherever I go.

Nothing,

Can take your memory,

From me.

They say,

I got the best version of you.

I say,

For a glimpse of your life

I got to love you.

In the end,

You couldn’t choose.

The same world

That led me to you.

But I believe in eternal love,

Untouched by mortal time.

I believe this love,

Will live on.

Past this lifetime.
